"This program is a blessing!"
"We live in the very poor slum area of Avadi. I have been preparing idli (a rice patty) with sambar (a type of sauce) and selling it in the street to earn some money so I can buy more food and necessities for my family. Before, I had to go to the market every day to buy all the ingredients because I couldn’t afford large quantities. Also, I was losing time which I could have been spending cooking and selling idli. I was making very little money. With my loan, I am now able to buy the rice and other ingredients in bulk so it is cheaper and I don’t lose time. I am excited seeing my business grow giving me the ability to provide more for my family. This program is a blessing!"

Hemalatha - a testimony
In our pilot group, we made the loan initially to two ladies: Hemalatha (in the blue saree) and Gracy.
They were so grateful. Hemalatha now makes colorful plastic wire baskets and goes house to house selling them. Since she does not have to borrow from the money lenders anymore, whose loans have an interest rate as high as 10% per day, she can now use her profit to purchase both rice and plastic wire in bulk at great savings. The Jeevan project made it possible for her business to increase which has blessed her whole family.
